Etsy Stock Take - Week Sixteen - Giveaway!

New in: Gift Certificates

Etsy Stock Take - Week Sixteen

UPDATE: Don't post your links here anymore, please go over to the latest Etsy Stock Take. I plan to do this at the end of every calender week, so look out for the newest link-up opportunity!

This week the Etsy Stock Take is full of news!

Etsy Stock Take:
Firstly, I have been rather busy knitting. Now knitting is very time intensive and doesn't normally yield anything for my shop as my knitting projects are usually earmarked for someone before I start.

So I have no items to list this week. But I know that regularly listing new items is important for getting an Etsy shop noticed by Google. So I was wondering what to do about that and then thought that perhaps I can offer gift certificates...

So I put together a new image using the same font as my blog (I'm trying to create a more cohesive look) and a lovely photo of Provence in the the South of France that I took last time we were there. That goes nicely with my lavender items.  Have you ever thought about offering gift certificates in your shop?

The shop gets a name change:
SecondlyI decided to change my Etsy shop's name! Now it is LifesJewels to fit in with the blog. I would love to take on more custom orders and I think that using the blog to show what I can do will help with that goal in the long term.

100th post giveaway!
Thirdly, this is my 100th post! My blog is very young, I just started it last year in the autumn. It's been a bit of a journey and I still have A LOT to learn and improvements to make. But I am very excited to have made it this far. In celebration I would like to offer a craft book to one of my readers!

The book is:
Chic and Unique Beaded Jewellery edited by Naomi Abeykoon and published by D&C.

It includes a run down of the needed materials and techniques for making beaded jewellery and many great projects by several designers. It's brand new, I have only leafed through it :)

To enter the competition, please leave me a comment with some feedback or advice on what I can do to improve the blog, LifesJewels (Etsy shop) or how to attract more custom orders.

It'd be great if you followed me on Twitter too - @KatEzat ;)

The author of the best piece of advice will be the winner! I'll announce the winner in next week's Etsy Stock Take and you can enter until then. This is open to anyone, I'll happily post the book internationally.

Sneak Peek!

Meanwhile please link up with your shop items as usual, you know what to do!

Oh, and don't forget that last week LeAnn offered us all a 10% discount in her shop LeMaisonBelle with the coupon code: JEWELSONSTRING10. Go and check it out!

See you next week,

Kat :)

Etsy Stock Take - Week Six.

Etsy Stock Take - Week Six

UPDATE! Don't post your links here anymore, please click on the link to go over to the latest Etsy Stock Take! I plan to do this at the end of every calender week, so please look out for the newest post!

I got a custom order last week! Hooray! It's a sweet white crochet heart wedding ring pillow. I'm working on the item now, but I think that it could be appearing in my shop properly in the near future. It really is gorgeous!

Today's new item is another skinny bangle. This one is an apricot colour, not really neon, but bright enough to take on the trend I think. And it's a spring time colour I reckon (did you see my counter in the right column at the bottom? Well it's there just in case you were wondering how long is left till spring!!).

Can't wait to see what you guys came up with this week...

Etsy Stock Take - Week Five

I'm going to make a white little heart for a custom order.

Etsy Stock Take - Week Five

UPDATE! Don't post your links here anymore, please click on the link to go over to the latest Etsy Stock Take! I plan to do this at the end of every calender week, so please look out for the newest post!

Oh my goodness, how does time fly? So the Etsy Stock Take was supposed to motivate me to fill up my shop with new items (apparently regular sales start around the the 100 items mark). Instead I've been completely distracted with other projects (monthly make and finishing the socks) and for another week I have nothing new to put in my shop. Grrr.

That said, I am excited to report that I have had an inquiry for a custom order! Hooray! I am going to make a white crochet heart with a ribbon to be a ring pillow for a wedding in May. How lovely is that?

Are you doing a better job at stocking your shop than me?!

Etsy Stock Take - Week Three

Etsy Stock Take - Week Three

UPDATE! Don't post your links here anymore, please click on the link to go over to the latest Etsy Stock Take! I plan to do this at the end of every calender week, so please look out for the newest post!

So I just finished listing my new item of the week. A sweet spring time daffodil skinny bangle. I am just aching for the winter to finish, can you tell?!

I hoped to make two, but only one was in a fit state to be featured, so here it is.

I love the texture of the macrame knots, and how on the inside the bangle is really smooth, it feels really nice against the skin.

If you check out the other pictures in my Etsy shop you'll see that there is a sneaky piece of green against the yellow. I'll give you a bit of inside info: I thought this project was perfect for finishing off a ball of cotton yarn, but I ran out of yarn a couple of cm short of filling the entire bracelet! Oh no!

In the end I think it was a happy accident as the little bit of green gets me thinking of the little shoots that bulbs will soon be pushing up through the frozen ground... :)

NB. I think I will post the next Etsy Stock Take on Friday 27th as we have house guests next weekend.

Etsy - Best of 2011

Today is supposed to be Etsy Stock Take Week 51. But as I haven't made anything this week I haven't got anything to share.

Shame on me!

Instead I thought it would be nice to let you in on a couple of Etsy secrets, my favourite sellers of 2011. I have purchased from both these sellers and my excellent experience in each case means I can vouch for them.

Drum roll please...

Number 1: greenteajewels

I love this little shop so much that I am a repeat customer. Value for money, a great friendly generous seller, Jill, pretty packaging and such sweet quality jewellery mean that I can't resist!

Ceramic Love Birds

Number 2: PrinceDesignUK.

I believe that this shop was one of the first that caught my eye when I discovered Etsy a couple of years ago... I LOVED the little red heart birdie dishes so much that I used the image as the wallpaper on my mobile phone (it's still there!). At the time I didn't know how to favourite items so sadly I lost the shop.

Somehow I found it again a couple of weeks ago and was just in time to buy a ceramic butterfly for my sister's wedding anniversary. Although I was late in ordering, Elizabeth went straight out to post it and it arrived 2 days later on the morning of their anniversary. They loved it. Now I'm just waiting for an excuse to get myself those little birdies...

I think I'm going to take a break from Etsy Stock Take next week too, but I'll be back at the end of week 1 2012! Hope you'll join me for a very productive year.

What's the best thing you bought last year?

Etsy Stock Take - Week 50

  Etsy Stock Take Week 50

I was rather uninspired this week and it looked like nothing would get added to my etsy shop...
But then I got out my box of beads and mused over them for a while. Just playing, no particular idea in mind. It seems like that was a good idea. After playing about for a bit I came up with this little sweetie. It was born of an old bracelet with a broken clasp.
I like how you can see the wire through the beads. And the big ol'blue is a stunner. Catches the light very prettily. The turquoise beads are new ones that I bought in a sale in a lovely Geneva craft shop last year before moving to Hamburg.
What have you been working on?
